Votronic "MPP" (Maximum-Power-Point) series solar controllers with "IU1oU2" charging characteristic are connected as a link between solar panel(s) and battery(ies). With MPP technology, the controller continuously and automatically determines the maximum power point (MPP) of the solar panels several times per second. It then transforms the excess voltage of the solar module to a higher charging current for the battery (realized by high frequency switching controller technology with high efficiency). This charging current gain ensures shorter charging times and the best possible power utilization of the solar system. The MPP solar controllers are fully automatic, maintenance free and offer the following functions: MPP charge current increase compared to conventional controllers by 10% to 30% (efficiency > 95%) due to the use of the latest controller technology (microprocessor). By using Bluetooth to program the Smart BatteryProtect, all required on/off thresholds can be set. Alternatively, one of nine preset on/off thresholds can be set using the programming pin (see manual). If necessary, the Bluetooth function can be turned off. Protects the battery from deep discharge and can be used as a system on/off switch. Smart BatteryProtect disconnects the battery from the less important loads before it is completely discharged (which would damage it) or before it no longer has enough energy to start the engine. The on/off input can be used as a system on/off switch. Therefore, turning on the engine will not activate the alarm. The alarm output is a short-circuit protected open collector output connected to the negative (minus) rail. Max. Current 50 mA. The alarm output is normally used to activate an audible signal, LED or relay. Delayed load disconnection and delayed reconnection The load is turned off 90 seconds after the battery voltage drops below the preset threshold. If the battery voltage rises again to the threshold for connection within this period (after the motor has been started, for example), the load is not switched off.the load is switched on again 30 seconds after the battery voltage exceeds the preset threshold for reconnection.

This mode of operation (no regular full charge) will damage a lead-acid battery within a few weeks or months.The Battery Life algorithm monitors the battery's state of charge and if necessary, day after day, raises the load disconnect threshold (i.e., disconnects the load sooner) until the energy gained is sufficient to charge the battery to near 100%. From this point, the threshold for disconnecting the load is modulated so that charging to nearly 100% is achieved about once a week. Built-in Bluetooth Smart: No dongle needed. The charge controller also has a programmable battery charging algorithm and day/night time control with light dimming option. Monitoring can be done with the appropriate accessories either with a remote control or via a Bluetooth connection and a smartphone.
