Battery protection Smart BatteryProtect The Smart BatteryProtect disconnects the battery from the less important loads before it is completely discharged (which would damage it) or before it no longer has enough energy to start the engine. By using Bluetooth to program the Smart BatteryProtect, all required on/off thresholds can be set. Alternatively, one of nine preset on/off thresholds can be set using the programming pin (see manual). If necessary, the Bluetooth function can be turned off. Protects the battery from deep discharge and can be used as a system on/off switch. Overvoltage protection To prevent sensitive loads from being damaged by an overvoltage, the load is switched off whenever the DC voltage exceeds the value of 16.3 V or 32.6 V, respectively. Delayed alarm output The alarm output is activated when the battery voltage drops below the preset value for shutdown for more than 12 seconds. Therefore, turning on the engine will not activate the alarm. The alarm output is a short-circuit protected open collector output connected to the negative (minus) rail. Max. Current 50 mA. The alarm output is normally used to activate an audible signal, LED or relay. Delayed load disconnection and delayed reconnection The load is turned off 90 seconds after the battery voltage drops below the preset threshold. If the battery voltage rises again to the threshold for connection within this period (after the motor has been started, for example), the load is not switched off.the load is switched on again 30 seconds after the battery voltage exceeds the preset threshold for reconnection.
